Faulty Wiring.

It can be an inconvenience and it can even be deadly!  Every year in the US nearly 50,000 fires occur because of faulty electrical wiring.   It may be hard to imagine, but if you’re using computer systems, gaming systems, any large appliance, and even certain “smart home” components on a system that’s designed for much less, your home’s safety is at risk.

Here are some signs that it is time to replace your home’s wiring –

1.  Your Belen and ABQ area home is more than 30 years old.
2.  Regular breaker tripping and blown fuses.
3.  More and more reliance on extension cords.
4.  Your lights flicker.
5.  Your outlets have brownish stains.

As the old saying goes “there’s danger here Cherie”!  Who wants to live with the uncertainty of faulty electrical wiring?  Whenever you see signs that the wiring in your home needs to be replaced please do not hesitate another day call the professionals at Daylight Electric and Appliance of Belen, NM.  It’s in their name.  Call (505) 864-3980.

Silent, but Deadly.

Make up your own interpretation of that above line, however in this case it refers to Carbon Monoxide…known to chemists by the moniker CO.  It is a gas you cannot see or smell which is produced by the incomplete processing of solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, as well as appliances fueled with oil, liquefied petroleum, natural gas, coal, kerosene, or wood.

Here are some signs that you have a carbon monoxide leak in your home –

1.  Heavy condensation on the windows where an appliance is installed
2.  Brownish stains around a leaking appliance
3.  Air that smells as if something is burning
4.  No upward draft in the chimney flue
5.  Solid fuel fires burn more slowly
6.  The pilot light keeps flickering and going out

The first line of defense against carbon monoxide poisoning is making sure that your home’s heating equipment is being inspected on an annual basis.  In Belen and the Albuquerque area that’s easy.  Just call Daylight Electric and Appliance at (505) 864-3980.  They will do a full inspection and help keep your family safe…now that’s having 2020 vision in the new year.
