Holiday Skiing near Albuquerque.

Are you planning a Christmas week vacation?  December 25th decided to fall on a Tuesday this year, so your holiday plans may incorporate two weekends.  What will you do?  If a family skiing or snowboarding trip is a part of those plans, we hope that it is a safe and happily memorable holiday season.

May we suggest Sandia Peak located at the outskirts of ABQ.  While it is the closest, there are several others that are less than a day away.  Ski Santa Fe is about 90 miles north of us.  Its peak tops out at 12,000 feet.  And then, of course, Taos is New Mexico’s most famous resort.  See, the Rocky Mountains don’t end in Colorado!

Whatever your desire, New Mexico and particularly the Albuquerque area offers a myriad of fun holiday getaways.  Whatever you decide (even if you have to work) we at Daylight Electric and Appliance hope that you have a rewarding and wonderful holiday.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Daylight Electric and Appliance of Belen and Albuquerque.

An Overloaded Power Pole.

There’s danger here Sherrie.  You may have heard that old saying, but it really applies when you are referring to the power poles around your home.  Those wood poles that are currently active may need additional capacity.  Perhaps a storm-hardened system needs to be installed.  Storms often don’t give you a second chance!

A new system needs to be thoroughly tested for strength and practicality.  If potentially overloaded conditions are tested by an area professional, you will know how your power poles are going to hold up for the long haul.  Then, they can give you recommendations and solutions on the proper steps to take.

That is what we are all about here at Daylight Electric and Appliance.  Diagnosing the problem, then curing it with our trained pros.  Please visit our new website at www.daylighthvac.com to discover a myriad of services that we provide.  That’s Daylight Electric and Appliance Belen and Albuquerque’s answer to HVAC questions.  Just call us a (505) 864-3980.

Power Poles on Your Property.

Here is something that you should know, power poles made from various materials that support the overhead power lines to your home within your property boundary, and do not supply another customer, are called property poles. These poles are owned by YOU as part of the property – and it is your responsibility to have the poles regularly checked and maintained.

Campaigns have been launched to make property owners aware of their obligations after poorly maintained property poles caused several fires—one of which destroyed 55 homes.  A property pole needs to be regularly inspected.  Have that pole inspected by an electrical contractor at least once every five years.

In the Belen, NM and Albuquerque area you can always count on Daylight Electric and Appliance for complete and professional power pole inspection and recommendations.  Do not trust this task to just anyone in our area.  You can always count on the team from Daylight Electric and Appliance.  Just give them a call at (505) 864-3980.

When an Emergency is Not an Emergency.

It may sound confusing, but it really isn’t.  When you think of your home’s heating and air conditioning needs, every repair and every replacement should be treated somewhat like an emergency in that if you ignore a potential problem it will eventually become one.  That’s what we mean by the above phrase.

Pre-planning almost always prevents poor performance.  Before you count on your home’s heating system to perform at its peak over the next several months have it checked.  Before next spring why not have your air conditioning system checked?  We would like to be your prevention HVAC company in the Albuquerque area.

We are Daylight Electric and Appliance.  Why not give us a call to come to your Belen or Albuquerque area home to check your HVAC system and make the necessary recommendations?  Of course, we are always here for heating and air conditioning emergencies as well.  Call us at Daylight Electric and Appliance.  That phone number is (505) 864-3980.

It Seems Like Close Encounters of the Third Kind Around Here.

Sometimes electrical problems can seem downright extraterrestrial.  Lights flicker when you turn on your microwave, outlets work intermittently, fuses blow, a circuit breaker keeps tripping, maybe you have even detected sparks or noticed occasional smoke coming from an outlet or appliance in your home.

Stop the madness!  One thing is certain, this is NOT some faulty toilet or clogged sink.  This is a possible danger to you and everyone in your household.  The problem or problems need to be detected and identified.  Tests need to be run in a proper and safe manner, and a professional needs to repair the situation.

You are on your best behavior…don’t mess with electricity!  Call Daylight Electric and Appliance immediately.  This is not a problem that is going to go away, and you are not going to sleep with one eye open.  Daylight Electric serves the needs of Belen and the Albuquerque area.  Go to www.daylightelectricandappliance.com or call (505) 864-3980.

Is Your Furnace Ready for Winter?

I know, who wants to think about that in early September?  How long have you lived in the Albuquerque area?  If it has been more than a year, you know that colder weather comes fast and hits hard some seasons.  If your furnace conks out from the get-go you will be miserable for a period of time until it is fixed.

Here are some tips to employ as soon as you can –

1.  Crank up your thermostat.  If you don’t hear the heat kick in that may be a bad sign.
2.  Make sure that the air filters are changed with the new season.
3.  Clean the heat exchanger.
4.  Lubricate the blower motor.
5.  Test the ignitor switch.

Whoa, whoa, whoa…we are getting into some professional territory here!  Before you go messing around with your heating system you may want to strongly consider calling the HVAC pros at Daylight Electric and Appliance Inc.  They are the heating and a/c people who have been serving Belen and ABQ for many years.  Please keep the number handy (505) 864-3980.
