Here are some preventative procedures –

1.  Watch for frequently tripping circuit breakers.

3.  Observe discoloration around the outlets.
4.  You smell burning odors.

Do not hesitate another minute!  If you live in Belen or the greater Albuquerque area call Daylight Electric and Appliance right away.  Justin and his people will come to your home and help you prevent potential disaster by inspecting and properly repairing your faulty wiring.  That’s Daylight Electric and Appliance at (505) 864-3980.

Fish Swim, Airplanes Fly, and Boilers Boil…Right?

No, that’s not the case!  Boilers in operation today do not boil water.  The term “boiler” is an old carryover reference from the past when steam boilers were common.  They boiled water to make steam.  Today’s boilers are water heaters that typically use natural gas.  Most of them can heat water in a range just under 200 degrees at the top end.

What are a few things you should know about your boiler system?

1.  Is your boiler standard-efficiency or high-efficiency?
2.  What kind of radiation does it have?
3.  Who maintains your home’s boiler?

That last one is easy.  If you live in Belen, NM or the greater Albuquerque area the answer should be Daylight Electric and Appliance.  They service and repair boilers and other types of heating systems throughout Central New Mexico.  Trust Daylight Electric and Appliance with the care and maintenance of your boiler by calling (505) 864-3980.

Thank You Duke.

Albuquerque was founded well over 300 years ago in honor of Francisco Fernández de la Cueva who was the 10th Duke of Albuquerque.  Hence, some refer to our metropolis as “Duke City”.  Who exactly named the city?  That moniker was placed by provincial governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdés.  See…Si?

Today Albuquerque is the home of Kirtland Air Force Base, Sandia National Laboratories, The National Museum of Nuclear Science and Industry, The University of New Mexico and so many other important things in our beautiful state.  If you are visiting ABQ or suburban Belen we hope that you will take part in our many attractions.

We at Daylight Electric and Appliance are headquartered in Belen, but we serve most of Albuquerque area with quality electrical work for homes and businesses.  If your needs include heating, air conditioning, rewiring, installation of appliances, etc. we are here to help.  From all of us at Daylight Electric and Appliance Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Defining an Electrical Contractor.

Here is a basic explanation… it is a business person or a company that provides electrical services.  They are also responsible for any work that needs to be constructed in relation to a particular design and the maintenance of any electrical systems.  This should apply to residences and commercial operations as well.

Contractors receive extensive training in preparation for entering the field and are required to be licensed depending on the regulatory standards and guidelines where they reside.  They pay an annual licensing fee and must obtain insurances as well as the necessary documents needed to keep their client safe.  Beware of anyone who is NOT licensed!

If you are looking for an electrical contractor who starts a project by completing estimated expenses for the client then you have come to the right place.  If you live in Belen or throughout the Albuquerque area and you need residential or commercial electrical work, please call Daylight Electric and Appliance at (505) 864-3980.

Staying Wired.

No, this is not an expose’ about John Belushi.  This is about commercial wiring.  One of the first differences between residential and commercial electrical installation has to do with the type of wiring used for each individual building.  In residential homes, the main type of wiring used has a plastic sheathing around the narrow wires.

As it pertains to commercial buildings, the electrical wiring is run in open spaces to allow access, but the wiring is contained in tube-like conduits for protection.  Commercial buildings use three-phase power.  Three-phase power delivers a total of 448 volts which is two legs of 120 volts and a third called a “wild leg” that carries 208 volts.

How to wire a commercial building is a complicated job for a true professional.  The team at Daylight Electric and Appliance of Belen serves all of the residential and commercial wiring needs of the greater Albuquerque area.  When you decide to wire or rewire your business give Daylight Electric and Appliance a call at (505) 864-3980.

Breaker…Breaker 19.

Maybe you are a truck driver on the roads of The Great Southwest and you recognize that call immediately.  This breaker refers to any breaker box in your Belen area home that must be working properly.  We probably don’t need to remind you that adding a new circuit can be a daunting and even dangerous job!

Here are just some of the component parts of your home’s breaker box –

1.  The main lugs…they are always live even when the power is off.
2.  The main plugs…the black ones are always live as well.
3.  The main breaker…always switch it off before removing the panel cover.
4.  The breaker itself…usually a red or black hot wire.
5.  The breaker bus…(stay off the bus).  This distributes power to the individual breakers.

We won’t bore you with more details, except to say that the breaker box that distributes power to your home must be kept in tip-top condition.  For that, you should call on the services of Daylight Electric and Appliance serving the electrical needs of Belen and the greater Albuquerque area.  Just call (505) 864-3980.

Underground Pedestals and Subterranean Enclosers.

No, this is not spelunking 101.  These are electrical devices that are needed for homes and businesses throughout the Albuquerque area.  Installing them safely and securely is just part of what we do.  When it comes to distributing power, pedestals enable the connection of underground cables to several customers within the cabinets.

Subterranean enclosers are switchboxes that are installed underground and are suitable for installing all types of equipment for either permanent or temporary conductivity.  They can remain underground both actively and passively.  Don’t worry, you do not have to understand all of this, because we do!

The ins and outs of electrical installation and repair are why we exist here in our home of Belen and around greater Albuquerque.  We are Daylight Electric and Appliance and as the name suggests if you need electrical work or appliances installed, we are the one and only call you need to make.  Call us at (505) 864-3980.

Stay Wired My Friends.

It might have been something that Timothy Leary would have said, but in this case it refers to the safety of the wiring in your home.  Outdated, damaged or otherwise poorly installed and maintained wiring is not something to take lightly!  There are hundreds of residential electrical fires in the Albuquerque area each year.

Here are some warning signs that demand your attention –

1.  Has a circuit breaker tripped?
2.  Be on the lookout for flickering lights.
3.  Look for any wiring that may be frayed or chewed.
4.  Search for any discoloration caused by smoke.
5.  Use your nose.  Sniff for odors of burning.

If any or all of these are prevalent in your home immediately reach for the phone and save the day!  Call Daylight Electric and Appliance Belen’s one of the Albuquerque area’s top home and office electrician.  They will come in and troubleshoot as well as repair your electrical problem giving you peace of mind again.  Call Daylight Electric and Appliance at (505) 864-3980.

Underground vs. Overhead Electrical Feeders.

First of all, you should never mess with either, but it may be beneficial to know about them.  When you deal with service entrance cables in new Belen and ABQ area homes the question often comes up about underground and overhead feeders. Are underground feeds better than overhead feeds?

Underground is safer but may be much more expensive.  The advantage of the underground feed is that there are no visible wires present, virtually eliminating the possibility of damage by storms.  With overhead service the feeder cables are exposed and suspended between the power pole and your home exposing them to the elements.

There are other factors to consider, but only one company to choose when installing or repairing underground or overhead electrical feeders.  That company is Daylight Electric and Appliance.  They have served the electrical needs of Belen and the surrounding Albuquerque area for many years.  Call them today at (505) 864-3980.

Look, but Don’t Touch.

No question, electricity is an important, everyday part of our lives, but it’s also extremely dangerous.  If you have a utility pole near your home, keep your distance!   If a downed power line occurs nearby, never approach the area.  It’s amazing how obvious this fact is, yet Americans die every year touching them.

Just what does a utility pole consist of –

1.  Transmission wires…they carry electricity at up to 500 kilovolts
2.  Communication lines…used for cable tv, telephones, etc.
3.  Distribution wires…they carry the power to your home
4.  Transformer…this metal cannister converts high voltage to low voltage

Look, it’s okay to be curious.  I am curious about lions, but I wouldn’t jump into their habitat at the Albuquerque zoo and feed one!  Whenever you see a downed power line call us immediately to fix the problem.  We are Daylight Electric and Appliance serving all of Belen and the ABQ area.  That phone number for any electrical problem is (505) 864-3980.

Hook ‘em Up and Keep ‘em Home.

What does that mean?  Well, as it pertains to RV’s and your driveway you CAN in many cases live in there without actually living in your Albuquerque area home.  Did you know that?  First things first, we are not advocating that you live in your RV for and extended period, but maybe these upcoming moderate weather months make it more practical.

You can hook up your RV to your home’s electrical system, but you probably won’t be able to run every appliance or use the electricity 24/7.  Your RV will need at least a 30/50 Amp hookup to power the rig.  Accomplishing this safely for the long haul is probably the work of a professional HVAC company.

At Daylight Electric and Appliance, we have hooked up power to RV’s for decades.  We are professional electric and appliance hook up experts serving our hometown of Belen as well as the entire Albuquerque area.  Before you decide to hook up your RV to your home’s power please give us a call at (505) 864-3980.
