Albuquerque was founded well over 300 years ago in honor of
Francisco Fernández de la Cueva who was the 10th Duke of Albuquerque. Hence, some refer to our metropolis as “Duke
City”. Who exactly named the city? That moniker was placed by provincial governor
Francisco Cuervo y Valdés. See…Si?
Today Albuquerque is the home of Kirtland Air Force Base,
Sandia National Laboratories, The National Museum of Nuclear Science and
Industry, The University of New Mexico and so many other important things in
our beautiful state. If you are visiting
