Repair or Replace…That is the Question.

It is a question with an expensive answer.  Should you repair your whole-house heating system, or should you replace it altogether?  A healthy heating system can prevent burst pipes, provide good quality indoor air that encourages good health and efficiently heat your home.  You need to know when you can get by for another season with repairs instead of replacement.

You may need a heating professional to assess your system when –

1.  You start hearing abnormal noises.
2.  The system just keeps blowing out air.
3.  Power bills are going up and up.
4.  There is poor indoor air quality.
5.  Temperatures vary from room-to-room.

These (among others) are signs that it is time to call in someone like Daylight Electric and Appliance.  They are heating professionals who have been serving the comfort needs of the Albuquerque area out of Belen for many years.  Watch, listen, then call Daylight Electric and Appliance of Belen at (505) 864-3980.

All of You Who Have Been Poisoned by Carbon Monoxide Raise your Hand.

What…no hands?  Of course not, people who were poisoned by this noxious gas CAN’T raise their hand!  It must be prevented from permeating your home at all costs.  Sure, safeguarding your home and family from a threat that you can’t see, smell or taste may sound like a tall order.  That’s why it is so important that the right detector is installed in your Belen home.

Here are some FAQs about carbon monoxide poisoning –

1.  What is carbon monoxide?  It is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.
2.  Where does it come from?  Appliances, generators, blocked chimneys, etc.
3.  What are the symptoms?  They are similar to the flu.
4.  What steps can I take to prevent it?  Properly equip your home with detectors.

Here is where we come in.  We are Daylight Electric and Appliance.  We serve the electrical and HVAC needs of the greater Albuquerque area from our home in Belen.  Properly installing a carbon monoxide detection system is NO insignificant matter!  Please trust us to do it right.  We are Daylight Electric and Appliance at (505) 864-3980.

Staying Wired.

No, this is not an expose’ about John Belushi.  This is about commercial wiring.  One of the first differences between residential and commercial electrical installation has to do with the type of wiring used for each individual building.  In residential homes, the main type of wiring used has a plastic sheathing around the narrow wires.

As it pertains to commercial buildings, the electrical wiring is run in open spaces to allow access, but the wiring is contained in tube-like conduits for protection.  Commercial buildings use three-phase power.  Three-phase power delivers a total of 448 volts which is two legs of 120 volts and a third called a “wild leg” that carries 208 volts.

How to wire a commercial building is a complicated job for a true professional.  The team at Daylight Electric and Appliance of Belen serves all of the residential and commercial wiring needs of the greater Albuquerque area.  When you decide to wire or rewire your business give Daylight Electric and Appliance a call at (505) 864-3980.

Temperature’s Falling.

October is upon us and that means winter in Central New Mexico is just around the corner.  As the temperatures fall, many commercial building and home owners are starting to think about turning on the heat.  In order to ensure that your boiler or heat exchanger is ready for the cooler weather, follow these tips to prepare your boiler for winter.

1.  Turn it on for at least 15 minutes before cold weather arrives.
2.  Bleed out the radiators.
3.  Look for leaks, cracks, and the accumulation of soot.
4.  The flame should be clear blue.
5.  Make sure the pipes are insulated.

Being ready before you spend a night in Belen or the Albuquerque area freezing your (you know what) off affords great peace of mind.  A full inspection of your boiler is just the ticket.  That ticket is punched by the professionals at Daylight Electric and Appliance.  Don’t wait one day too long…give yourself some “daylight” by calling (505) 864-3980.
